This is the Jason Voorhees* of trucks

Monday, Oct 29, 2018

Sometimes in life, you don’t need complicated. You don’t need fancy. You just need really, really huge. Spectacularly huge. And strong. Crazy strong. Like this custom truck we recently designed to haul a 78,000-pound gas generator for a truck repair and towing company.

At more than 17 feet long, with a payload of 80,000 pounds, this is the trailer that could star in a horror movie about monster trailers. Except that instead of offing unsuspecting teenagers, it murders inefficiency.

To design our supernatural protagonist, we had to get a little creative with the support beam. For stability, the customer wanted to keep the deck height to 37” or lower. But they also wanted it to be as economical as possible. In conjunction with dualpress-on wheels to handle the loads, we employed a taller, yet lightweight beam to maximize strength and minimize cost while providing the requested deck height. 22 “D” rings spaced evenly along the trailer edges provide extra lockdown security.

The result is a beast of a truck that can travel both indoors and out.

Cue the final scare scene!
