At Hamilton, our customers and our people are like family. And like you, during these last few weeks we’ve been focused on doing everything we can to make sure our families have what they need to keep moving forward while staying safe and healthy in uncertain times.
For our customers, that means staying open to continue to support the world’s supply chain. In the face of Ohio’s “shelter in place” order, Hamilton—like so many fellow manufacturers and distributors—is considered an “essential business.” A number of factors led to us being deemed part of critical manufacturing. First, we relied on criteria from the Department of Homeland Security, as well as documentation from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
Our defense contractors also let us know that our products are associated with critical national security contracts that are rated orders under the Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS), which is used to prioritize national defense-related programs throughout the country’s supply chain. And finally, a growing number of our key customers let us know that they need us in operation because we’re also a vital part of their supply chains.
At our headquarters, we are closely monitoring daily COVID-19 developments and have put the following precautionary steps in place to protect employee health:
- Allowing all employees who can to work-from-home
- Relocating a few engineers in the office to maintain appropriate social-distancing
- Taking everyone’s temperature at the start of each day
- Sanitizing and cleaning commonly used areas more often
- Increasing communications about frequent handwashing per CDC guidelines
As of this writing, we have no employees who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. We continue to make and ship products, while we adjust to changing stimulus packages and employment laws impacting the balance of 2020. As always, our website is a great 24/7 resource for your requests and orders.
