Round About: Giant Pumpkin Weighs HOW Much?

Friday, Oct 25, 2013

Behold, the world’s largest pumpkin in its autumnal glory. Weighing at 2,023 lbs., or just over one ton, it squashed the previous Guinness World Record by nearly 300 lbs.

But unlike the world’s largest hamburger, you probably shouldn’t eat this oversized melon. Bred for size, it’s mostly hollow with zero nutritional value. In fact, giant pumpkins only produce a handful of seeds compared to the hundreds you probably slushed out in time for Halloween.

To go along with its new title, the pumpkin also earned the honor of being the world’s largest, albeit inedible, fruit.
