Nix These 7 Phrases from Your Vocabulary to Sell
Tuesday, Jun 24, 2014
Every rockstar salesperson has a secret to nailing the sale. Some wear their socks inside out, others don’t shave until a deal is struck. Rituals aside, however you sell, don’t let a few fatal words cost you the moola.
Here are the seven deadly sins of sales talk via MTD Sales Training:
- “Trust me.” This vomit-inducing saying is sure to have people not believe a word that comes out of your mouth. Instead, earn their trust by delivering the toughest casters on the planet.
- “What will it take to earn your business?” If it gets to this, consider the sale lost. Unless you’re throwing in Super Bowl tickets and a Jacuzzi.
- “How are you today?” Cold calling is hard enough in the digital age. Open a sales call with this phrase, and prepare to eat dial tone.
- “This is a limited time offer.” Limited to who – everyone, anytime? This age-old saying belongs at the used-car lot where it came from.
