Couplers for Trailers
Couplers are among the most important components that need to be specified for towing industrial trailers. The reason is that great stresses are exerted on these parts when large trailers are towed, or when the trailer train is started or stopped suddenly, towing recklessly, or "dragged" around too tight a turn. Even cautious towing involves continuous wear and tear. Hamilton couplers are ruggedly constructed to withstand such service, and are designed so they will not uncouple accidentally when negotiating ramps or small obstacles.

AUTOMATIC COUPLERS
This is the automatic coupler almost univerasally seen on caster-steer-trailers-interchangeable with most makes. Made in two capacities: the heavy duty for trailers of 3,000-8,000 lbs. capacity has steel bail and jaw sections; the light duty model for 1,000-2,500 lbs. trailers has a fabricated bail sections and smaller jaw assembly. (Both are interchangeable with comparable competative brands, but a light duty jaw will not accept a heavy duty bail.)
All couplers painted hammertone blue. For unpainted, drop "-P" suffix from model #.

MANUAL COUPLERS |
Lower in cost than the automatic type, these must be coupled or uncoupled manually. Another important advantage is that the wishbone half stands upright when not in use, while the eye protrudes minimally at the rear. (The eye can be mounted to pivot out of the way entirely where necessary). In addition to the standard hook/eye version, a loop-type wishbone coupler (for use with the pintle hitches) is also offered. Available in heavy duty configurations for 3,000 lbs. to 8,000 lb. trailers, and in light duty for 1,500 to 2,500 lb. trailers.
