Casters

The wheel, older than history, is one of the cornerstones on which human progress has been built. At a time when productivity improvement is trumpeted as the key to our nation's economic well-being, manufacturing industrial casters and wheels in 2013 and beyond promises plenty of opportunity. It also promises substantial challenge for a privately owned company like Hamilton caster. Higher technology industries, and more sophisticated specifiers and buyers, are looking for greater precision . . . less downtime . . . longer life . . . and of course, always minimum prices.

Fortunately, growing acceptance of Hamilton caster products in the marketplace has generated the earnings to permit hiring talented people and making the capital expenditures necessary to keep pace. Our completely equipped production manufacturing facility has the latest cnc machines, lasers, robotic welders, and large presses, and secondary-operation machines capable of processing record numbers of castings, forgings, and other components. The dollars being invested in plant and equipment improvements are enabling Hamilton caster's factory and office employees alike to achieve higher levels of quality and productivity.

In Hamilton caster's early days, most caster components were cast iron, and dimensions were "locked in" by patterns. Today, the use of steel components and modern welding techniques permits us to produce different sizes utilizing "common parts." This flexibility can help meet special customer requirements without big tooling costs-for example, by varying caster heights or offsets. Hamilton caster has the ability to produce casters and wheels in many non-standard sizes, in special materials like stainless steel or bronze, and in special finishes ranging from chrome plating to custom colors.

Today's Hamilton caster's website portrays one of the world's most comprehensive lines, ranging from stamped steel models of 150 lbs. capacity each. In between are a myriad of different styles and sizes, heights, and capacities encountered throughout industry. In addition, Hamilton caster regularly supplies special bores, bearings, and keyway machining for its customers, and has the reputation for being consistently able to beat competitive deliveries on models equipped with state-of-the-art accessories like wheel brakes, sealed swivel assemblies or wheel bearings, swivel locks, thread guards, etc.

This ability to accommodate such a wide range of buyer specifications requires-in addition to strong marketing orientation-versatile employee skills, "job-shop" flexibility, and a huge investment in inventory. Building on these strengths, Hamilton caster in 1968 introduced a PRONTO® Delivery that warehouses thousands of casters and wheels at the factory for shipment in 24-48 hours to distributors and users around the country (a no-extra cost service). PRONTO® enables us to ship both standard and special models faster than ever before, and has made Hamilton caster widely recognized in the industry as "Number One" in availability and delivery.

We anticipate no basic change in this successful marketing approach. Responsive service seems to be the foremost desire of our customers. And so, no matter how much productivity improvement we achieve through lean manufacturing, machine technology, and computer software, responsive service will remain the foremost priority at Hamilton Caster.
