ProMat 2019 Recap: Large and in charge

Saturday, Apr 27, 2019

In case you missed it, ProMat 2019 drew a monstrous crowd this year—the biggest ever in its 34-year history (nearly 50,000 registrants). That’s pretty fitting, since ProMat is the largest material handling and supply chain trade expo in North and South America.

Hamilton’s presence there was huge, too, with a booth featuring our famous “Vegas-style” showcase of casters—from small light duty to hefty 60 pounders. We also brought back our novel 3D-printed remote-control miniature tugger and trailers, which flaunted the tight turning prowess of our four-wheel steer trailers. Visitors had fun manning the controller through a simulated warehouse environment. Some chose to leave the commandeering to the pros: our very own Marty Wilson and Matt Olsen put on a show that that would make Mario Andretti proud.

We also brought back another crowd favorite— Hamilton’s Prize Wheel in the shape of our giant-size Spinfinity Caster. Out of 700 spinners, seven lucky winners chose from prizes that included our Colossus spinner, Bose Wireless Speaker and an REI Gift card. New to the Hamilton booth this year: a 42” touchscreen featuring our robust website tee’d up for our sales to conveniently reference while answering all our visitors’ burning questions.

During the busy four-day expo April 8-11, we learned a lot about robotics and emerging technologies, met a ton of great people and consumed large quantities of delicious Chicago fare. Among the key takeaways from this year’s trade show:

  • Blockchain technology has the potential to transform the efficiency and transparency of supply chains for everything from warehousing to delivery to payment
  • Automation is still transforming the industry—but we still need to understand our operations, vendors and employee needs. Getting the right technology for the right workflow is key

Thank you to everyone who came out and said hello. See you at ProMat 2021!
