Give us Halloween candy over fine dining any day of the week, twice on Sundays and three times after our morning coffee. There’s just something about the siren song of this annual sugar rush that has the unique power to conjure major nostalgia. Who among us doesn’t remember pouring out their hard-earned stash after a night of trick or treating to relish the spoils—and start trading the dregs—with family and friends? And while Halloween isn’t exclusively American (and, indeed has international roots, we think it’s safe to say nobody celebrates October 31 with the excitement, scale or commercialization like we do in the States. It’s enough to make this American-made manufacturer go out and buy another fog machine before Tuesday.

And yet nothing ruins lives more than arguing over the best Halloween candy—or the worst, for that matter. For serious, people: is candy corn good or evil? And which confection deserves more shade—Bit-O-Honeys or Smarties? But we digress.
