Meet the ultra-wide caster that eats deadlifts for breakfast

Wednesday, Apr 23, 2025

Some casters are built to move. Others are built to muscle. But this latest custom caster is so beefy we’re thinking of giving it its own gym membership.

Our longtime customer—a fellow family-owned welding and manufacturing company—needed serious support for their custom-built access platforms, which are used for maintenance and repairs in high-stakes industries like aerospace, defense, and mass transit. Translation: 100% reliability required.

Enter Hamilton UltraGlide® wheels

The customer ordered two sizes—12" x 7" and 12" x 5”. Each wheel is one inch-wide and rated for massive payloads—17,000 and 11,700 pounds, respectively. These casters are thicker than a triple-stacked burger and just as satisfying to engineer.

Thanks to UltraGlide’s modular design, wheels can be stacked to hit your payload sweet spot. Independent swivel surfaces eliminate scrubbing, keeping things cool under pressure (literally—no heat buildup) and making tight turns feel like power steering. Even our split outer raceways pull their weight, reducing friction for smoother starts and effortless maneuvering.

This partnership was a match made in manufacturing heaven: both companies say yes to complex jobs others shy away from. Both are American-made and built on generations of grit. And both believe in the power of precision, performance, and a job well done.

So when your ground support needs to rise to the challenge, know that Hamilton’s already lifting.
