5 mind-blowing military innovations that aren’t tanks

Saturday, Jun 26, 2021

It’s no mystery that Hamilton services the defense industry. Many of our products help support top-secret projects we’re not even allowed to talk about. But when we think about our country’s most hush-hush projects, it’s funny: our minds tend to automatically fixate on weaponry. The truth is, there are a ton of hardcore innovations happening around the world that have nothing to do with guns or missiles, as evidenced in this video. Here are some highlights.

Ratnik-3 Exoskeleton Combat Suit

From the Russians, this combat suit is explosion-proof, fire-proof and even bullet-poof—able to withstand a direct shot from a .50 caliber bullet. We hear Chuck Norris has one in red.

Gravity Jet Suit

OK, so technically this one is for the UK’s Royal Marines, but it’s still cool as heck. It’s a 3D-printed, body-controlled flying jetpack that has three turbines—one worn as a backpack and two near each pilot’s hand—and can fly up to 85 miles per hour for up to five minutes.

Tactical Ultrashort Pulsed Laser (UPSL)

A pulse laser that can vaporize its target in seconds, this is the world’s most powerful laser weapon. One million times stronger than any current lasers, it can fire one trillion watts of energy in one quadrillionth of a second.

Enhanced Night Vision Goggle-Binoculars (ENVG-B)

With superior abilities to target, engage and neutralize threats, these babies feature an integrated augmented reality system that outlines your target in a glowing light.

Black Hornet Drone

Like something out of “The Hunger Games,” this tiny, unmanned vehicle fits snugly into a soldier’s pocket, has two cameras and a night light imaging system, and can spy on potential threats.

And these are just the innovations we know about...
