There’s that famous line in “The Big Lebowski” when John Goodman’s character, Walter—in all his resourcefulness—is trying to make a point that he can do just about anything for his friend, The Dude: “You want a toe? I can get you a toe. Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o’clock,” Walter quips.

So, when a Michigan-based company specializing in automated material handling solutions needed a high-quality caster from Hamilton, but wanted to know if we could help them turn a fixed caster into an oscillating one, we offered “the toe.” Our team got to work with the specs they provided and devised a way to mill holes to the caster’s mounting plate so the customer could easily mount the steering gear to the wheel. The result? We turned a front wheel on their AGVs into a steerable one.
