Best of CES: The innovations you never knew you needed!

Tuesday, Jan 30, 2024

Per usual, this year’s Consumer Electronics Show took the bizarre and brilliant to the next level, and we tracked the fun—paying particular attention to the latest in smart mobility solutions. Buckle up for five of the wackiest game-changers that caught our eye.

Hyundai electric air taxi
This compact, vertical take-off and landing vehicle promises to revolutionize urban transportation, offering a glimpse into a future where people can bypass traffic jams and commute through the skies. The Hyundai Supernal S-A2 features seating for five, 120 mph, and 20 to 40 miles of range. Liftoff could happen as early as 2028.

Samsung Ballie
Samsung unveiled its tiny personal AI companion robot that tracks you, responds to your voice commands and even capture candid moments with its integrated camera. Some critics called it a “stalked robot on wheels,” raising concerns about privacy and surveillance. It watches you sleep, follows you, and has cameras. What could go wrong?

Personal Bartender Machine
What’s the secret to the perfect Old Fashioned? It’s Bartesian’s latest cocktail mixing machine, the Premier, which takes the guesswork out of bartending. Similar to how a Keurig works, the Premier whips up a variety of classic tipples and custom concoctions with the drop of a capsule and touch of a screen. (Apparently Lemon Drop is Bartesian’s most popular recipe).

Electric skis
Love the euphoria of skiing? This invention lets you do it on dry ground, too, allowing you to carve and pivot on sand, asphalt, gravel and even grass. The Skywheel One all-terrain electric ski system includes a wireless handheld remote and two motorized skis clad with pneumatic tires capable of reaching speeds up to 50 mph.

Snore-reducing pillow
For everyone who’s thought about poisoning their spouse in their sleep, this “world’s first smart, anit-snoring pillow” will automatically adjust your head if it detects snoring movements. Health company DeRucci claims the pillow can reduce snoring by up to 89%. #Goals.
