Industrial trailers rarely get accused of showing off.

But this one came off Hamilton’s manufacturing floor with a gleaming hardwood deck, bright red finish and the kind of heavyweight proportions that make you want to admire it for a minute before putting it to work.

And work is exactly what it was built to do.

Hamilton recently manufactured this custom four-wheel-steer trailer for a longtime customer who knows it well—we’ve built versions of the hard-working design for them many times before. The latest measures 60 inches wide by 144 inches long, with a 26-inch deck height and a 10,000-pound capacity. That’s five tons riding on a hardwood deck that looks almost too handsome for industrial duty.

Almost.

The hardwood earns its keep. Its surface provides more grip than steel, helping loads stay put through turns and over ramps. It also has a bit more give, which helps absorb shock and quiet the ride. Underneath those good looks is familiar Hamilton muscle. Four-wheel steering helps the 12-foot-long trailer maneuver through industrial spaces, while the front loop-style towing tongue and rear pintle hitch let it fit smoothly into the customer’s existing material-handling operation.

For Hamilton, repeat orders like this carry their own kind of compliment. The customer has already put the equipment through its paces, lived with it in the real world and decided it was worth ordering again.

And it doesn’t hurt that it keeps showing up looking this good in Hamilton red.
