Meet Hamilton's latest low-riding, heavy-hauling creation. This compact steer trailer moves massive industrial dies without making a big fuss about it. And that's no small feat. Industrial dies are the heavyweights of manufacturing. These massive metal tools shape, stamp and form everything from automotive components to everyday products. But moving them around a facility can be a balancing act. Literally. Because dies can have a high center of gravity, keeping them close to the ground helps reduce the risk of tipping during transport.
Enter Hamilton's engineering team. We designed a compact 60" x 60" steer trailer with a deck height of just 17⅜ inches and a whopping 20,000-pound load capacity. The secret? A whole lot of muscle tucked underneath.
To keep the deck low without sacrificing load capacity, we equipped the trailer with four Maxi-Duty dual-wheel casters. Two swivels up front and two rigids in back. Each caster features a pair of 12" x 4" Superlast® polyurethane wheels with 95A durometer tread and tapered roller bearings.
The dual-wheel design pulls double duty. By packing more wheel capacity beneath the load, it helps keep the trailer's overall height down. And because the wheels can rotate at different speeds during turns, less force is needed to change direction. That's some serious maneuverability for something carrying ten tons of cargo.
The rest of this blue bruiser is just as purposeful. Its heavy-duty steel frame and slip-resistant steel deck provide a sturdy foundation for heavy cargo. Four perimeter shackles serve double duty, providing lifting points for loading and unloading the trailer as well as securement points for the load. A tow eye makes it ready for power towing. And the whole package is finished in signature Hamilton Blue enamel.
