10 Ways to Double Your LinkedIn Connections

Saturday, Jul 26, 2014

With cold calling mostly dead, sales professionals have turned to social media to churn out leads, stay top-of-mind with existing customers and ultimately sell casters and trailers.

Of all the platforms – from Twitter to Facebook – LinkedIn reigns supreme when it comes to connecting with plant managers, project managers and decision makers.

Here are 7 simple ways to double your connections and make the most out of time spent on LinkedIn:

  • Post daily updates. Targeting the fried chicken supplier across town? Share blog posts, like this one, that demonstrate expertise and show why they should do business with you. The more you post, the more connections you’ll make in relevant parts of your business.
  • Join or jumpstart a LinkedIn group. Search for groups in heavy manufacturing and participate in discussions happening every day in the industries you serve. Staying active is key.
  • Connect with someone new daily. It seems obvious, but make an effort to send out an invite every day. Whether it’s the factory boss you sold a set of wheels to five years ago or a new prospect, any connection could lead to a sale. Personalize each message and make them genuine.
  • Make your contact info visible. Check your profile. You’ll want your phone number, email and website prominently displayed. Sure, it makes it easy for people to contact you, but it also builds credibility and shows you put effort into your business.
