Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) are more popular than ever in the material handling world. We get it. We’ve been designing casters and wheels to operate on AGVs for years now. As volume has reached critical mass, the time has come to devote a pre-engineered caster and wheel series specifically designed for 24/7 operation.
AGVs are essentially considered mobile robots—expected to rarely fail and operate continuously. As such, their casters must make the Energizer Bunny look like a lap pet when it comes to endurance and durability.
For continuous duty operation on AGVs, Hamilton handpicked two of our polyurethane treads—Ergo-Glide and DuraGlide—for their easy rolling, quiet operation and overall stellar durability. Our engineers then upgraded the wheel bearings and design-fit to stand up to the non-stop punishment that all AGV wheels eat for breakfast. Finally, we mated the upgraded wheels to Hamilton’s forged steel casters featuring HPI swivel technology, which we created years ago in response to an AGV application. HPI outperforms conventional CNC-machined ball raceways, kingpinless and unit load bearing swivel constructions.
Want to get in on our AGV Caster series action? Every wheel is molded with a 1” thick tread, with wheel sizes ranging from 6”-inch dia. x 2” wide up to 12” dia. x 5” wide. The AGV casters are available on the following HPI-equipped platforms: EHS, EHS2, ES, EHD, EHD2, EPSD, MD, & MDD.
